KINKEI

The farmhouse overlooking the Yatsugatake

A little over 100 years old, Kinkei belonged to a family that sold oil for a living. Alex Kerr chose this farmhouse for its evocative location. Its position just beyond a creek with a gurgling river running in front of the house and an old wooden bridge the previous owner crossed to get home all create a nostalgic atmosphere.

Rooms

In the living area, the magnificent scenery of the Yatsugatake Mountains is framed by a large curved window modeled on the beam.

In the tatami room, the artistic space of the decorative alcove stands side by side with the natural scenery visible through the window.

The contrast of the blackened beams against the living room hazel ceiling is one of the house's highlights.

At night, the farmhouse is enveloped in an atmosphere of calm, only interrupted by the occasional chorus of insects.

Every farmhouse is provided with a full set of dishware, glassware, and cutlery, some of which are traditional ceramic and lacquer works.

Sleeping arrangements consist of a twin bedroom and a tatami room where we can lay out up to three futons.
